Thank you for the wonderful letters and e-mails honoring Forrest Cole. Excerpts--
"Searching the web - found the Memorial for Forrest. He cared for my
first Peke in 54 -- I still go to Lake Animal Hospital -- still
breeding/showing Pekes & chi's and doing rescue. I have such fond
memories of Forrest -- I'll always remember his kindness to me and my
Pekes."
"I just found out about Forrest Cole's death last June. I am very saddened, although I know he had a full life and appeared to enjoy every minute of it. We were clients at his Canyon Animal Hospital in Golden for many years before he sold his facility and retired. ...I first met Dr. Cole when we had been away several weeks and were having older friends of ours care for our diabetic dog. He was a dear dog we had rescued from a car accident on I-70 a few years previously. Our friends forgot one of the insulin dosages in the evening, and he went into shock. The vet we had been using at the time was moving that weekend, and the vet covering for him would not see our dog because our friend did not own a credit card. Our elderly friend called two or three vets in the area who would not see our dog on an emergency basis because of a lack of a credit card.... Dr. Forrest Cole responded, though. He met our friends at his clinic late that evening and sat up all night giving him the necessary treatment. We would have lost our dog had it not been for your father....Through the next few years we had several rescue animals walk into our lives--all of them treated by Dr. Cole. Your dad use to tease me that when he died he wanted to come back as one of our animals. I wonder when he will be turning up on our doorstip. After his retirement, Forrest would stop by from time-to-time, usually coming or going from the ski slopes where he was proud of still skiing in his 80s....Dr. Cole was such a wonderful man, so sweet and always had a twinkle in his eye and a good joke to tell me. He will be missed very much."
